TASTING NOTES

It’s easy to get distracted while exploring new and exciting regions of California planted to Pinot Noir, and perhaps to forget about the main area responsible for many of the first great examples in our home state. There’s a reason the Russian River Valley helped put Pinot Noir on the radar of wine lovers everywhere – it's fantastic!

Stiling Vineyard is close to our hearts, and coming up on our 13th harvest, it's practically worked its way into our DNA. As we celebrate the release of our 11th vintage, we still absolutely love this place and remain giddy to have it in our lineup.

The wine? In a word: Delicious. We use that adjective a lot when describing Stiling Pinot and 2013 is no exception. The even, dry summer produced a Pinot with juicy, luscious fruit, a velvety texture and tons of warm baking spices. Classic Russian River Valley, and a complete in wine every aspect.

Starting in 2013, we managed to increase our allocation from the hillside block planted to the famed Swan clone, so there’s more to go around than ever. How awesome is that? Over the years, we’ve dialed in our use of just the right amount of whole cluster fermentation to add structure, freshness and complexity. Fans of past vintages will be very happy with the results. For the uninitiated, now’s the time to try it out!
