Tasting Notes

While 2007 was talked about as the “greatest California Pinot vintage ever,” our experience was that 2009 ended up producing more interesting, deeper wines, and the Stiling vineyard was no exception. An even growing season with just enough heat at the end resulted in grapes that were perfectly ripe, intense, with good acidity and freshness.

Deep ruby red in color, with black cherry, cola, dark berry and spice on the nose, this is classic Russian River Pinot. Rich and velvety with persistent flavors of raspberry, blackberry, plum, and just the right structural hints of subtle oak. Layered, complex and decadent at the same time, with explosive flavor and a wonderfully smooth finish. Unusually for Stiling, this is drinking so well already that it’s hard to resist young, but it will continue to evolve and further reward those who can find the patience.
