2021 Small Town Pinot Noir - SOLD OUT

2021 Small Town

Pinot Noir

SONOMA COASTsonoma county

ALLOCATION LIST: $49.50
RETAIL: $55.00

TASTING NOTES

To use a well-worn musical metaphor, our Small Town cuvée plays “alto” when compared to the more “basso” Sascha Marie in the spring release. Vivid, bright red fruit and savory spice vs. dark, lush fruit and sweeter spice. That said, subtle differences in vintage and vineyards over the past few years have brought these two cuvées a bit closer in terms of concentration and palate presence.

In 2021, Small Town remains the more spice-driven and elegant wine, albeit with a bit more heft and power compared to vintages further back. Prepare for a heady combination of supple red fruit (cassis, ripe cherry and raspberry) alongside a somewhat sweeter spice profile of nutmeg, clove and cedar.

As usual with Small Town, we employed a “less is more” approach in the cellar by raising it in 95% older used puncheons, allowing the character of the vineyards to express themselves transparently. As deliciously forward as this vintage is, we always suggest giving our Pinots some rest in the cellar so the wines can unfurl into their full and glorious selves.
