Cory AlburyGROWER RELATIONS AND OPERATIONS MANAGERFar from the rolling hills of western Sonoma County, Cory was first exposed to wine at a small Sarasota wine shop in his home state of Florida. There he discovered an entire world of wine styles and gained an intense appreciation for the primary factors that influence aroma, flavor and texture: geography and winemaking. Always a “hands-on” kind of guy, he quickly found a position working harvest in New Zealand and continued from there to work in Napa, Sebastopol, and Australia. In 2010 he accepted a position with a vineyard management company in Sonoma County and spent the next five years working on premium vineyards with all number of varietals, producers, and terroir. During that time, he was also the winemaker for a small label crafting wines from the very same fruit he managed and in some cases even planted! This combination of experience in local grape growing and exposure to winemaking around the globe strengthened his appreciation for the importance of quality and the concept of terroir — all of which he brings to Eric Kent as we pursue the very best Sonoma County has to offer. On top of all that, he’s something fierce with a spreadsheet, an amazing process and procedures person, and an all-around super great guy. What a fantastic addition to team EK!
